Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What tyre pressures should I run?

This can depend on several factors, track & air temperatures and the tyre itself.  As a rough guide I tend to run 28 to 31lb psi front and rear.

What make of tyres should I use?

It's down to your personal preference on make, but a sports compound is advisable for track use.

What size and profiles should I use?

Sizes are down to the manufacturers recommendation, profiles are dependant on your riding style and how you want the bike to react when cornering i.e. steeper profiles cause the bike to drop in to corners quicker which can be off putting for the inexperienced, but gives a better contact patch whilst cornering and can affect stability on straights.

What compounds are best?

Compounds depend on the track temperature and how hard you ride the bike.  The softer the compound the shorter the tyre life, but the greater the grip.  Unless you are trying to break lap records we would usually recommend a medium or hard compound, but use a quality brand to maximise the tyre life.

What is the life expectancy from my tyres?

This depends on tyre pressure, track temperature and suspension set up.  A properly set up bike will increase tyre life. Track surfaces are not kind to tyres!! The average sports tyre will last for approximately 2 to 3 trackdays maximum.

Can I Purchase tyres direct from you?

Will you remove and refit my wheels from my bike?
